Three Years in Lessons Learned from the 2022 CDC Clinical Practice Guidelines

Three years after the release of the 2022 CDC Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain, what lessons have we learned? This panel discussion will explore how the updated guideline has influenced opioid prescribing and pain management in clinical practice. The panelists will discuss what they learned from implementing these changes and how it affected the care they provide. Moving away from rigid dosing thresholds, the importance of individualized and patient-centered care, and considerations for patients already receiving long-term opioid therapy. The discussion will also highlight how the 2022 guideline expanded recommendations to address acute and subacute pain and what these changes mean for clinicians today.

This webinar was recorded live in 2026 through a collaborative partnership between the CAM Academy, Denver Health’s Addiction Education Collaborative and the Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention, funded by the Denver Overdose Data 2 Action Grant.
