Substance-Use Disorder 101: Examining the Impact of Addiction

This course provides an introductory overview of addiction and its effects on the brain, exploring the complex cycle of addiction and its implications on individuals. Learners will gain insights into substance use disorders (SUDs), including clear definitions and an examination of their prevalence both nationally and within Colorado. By the end of the course, participants will be able to articulate how addiction alters brain function, recognize the widespread impact of SUDs, and identify various barriers that individuals face in their journey to recovery. This knowledge will empower learners to understand the challenges of addiction better and support those affected in overcoming these obstacles.
